Countdown is perhaps the worst series I ever bought. I had high hopes. Paul Dini, weekly comic, just coming off the surprisingly awesome 52, I was ready. Then I started to buy this abortion of a comic. I bought into the hype. I knew the bad from the first issue. But, I figured it would just start slow. It kept promising that it was going to have a major bearing on the DC universe. No, no not really ever. Eventually I got so far into this series that my OCD would not allow me to stop buying it. Even though I hated it. The best thing about 52 were not in this comic: character development. All the characters in this series are shallow as shallow gets. Don’t ever read this series.
Coundown 41: This issue, the rogues fall from a plane. (the rogues storyline being the best in the whole series btw)Jimmy Olson becomes Mr. Action for the first time. Retarded Jason Todd and his band of merry men go to the Palmer-verse and names his monitor Bob. Karate Kid almost goes back to the 31st century…then doesn’t. Harley Quinn and Catwoman Jr. are fake amazons. Sounds exciting eh? Too many storylines.
Countdown 40: Repeated bad.
Countdown 39: Repeated bad even worse.
I wish that I hadn’t started doing this review thing while in the middle of Countdown. But, that’s where fate has brought me. The Countdown stuff may not be very good, review-wise, but that would be a perfect mirror of how good the series actually was: BAD.
I am reading the new Star Wars book, Outcast. It is pretty dang good. But, it will keep me from posting the reviews often since, when I’m actually reading a book, I don’t read my back issues.
Total comics owned: 4172
Party on.
