110 | Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe

Prepare to be Punished!!! 

We take advantage of the Punisher's appearance in Netflix's Daredevil Season 2 by making "Punisher Kills The Marvel Universe" this week's Reading Assignment!  It was written by Punisher Maestro Garth Ennis, and penciled by Dougie Braithwaite and published by Marvel comics.  We then talk about Wolverines #1 and #2 by Charles Soule, Nick Bradshaw and some other dudes, the first Beauty trade paperback by Jeremy Haun, published by Image comics, and Spider-Man/Deadpool #s 2 & 3, put out by Marvel comics, written by Joe Kelly and art by Ed McGuinness.

Craziness in a car.

On our way to C2E2 in Chicago, we thought it'd be fun to record an episode! In part one, we talk about our hopes & goals at the convention.

 
In part two, we discuss what we actually did at the con, including meeting Chris Claremont & Marguerite Bennett and hanging out with Ted Sikora of Apama, the Undiscovered Animal. 

In part three, we just leave the microphone on & shoot the shit. Marc manages to fit in a quick review of Sword of the Atom from DC Comics, written by Jan Strnand and art by Gil Kane. This episode really captures what it's like to take a road trip with your friends...if your friends love comics.

Are we a book only podcast now or what? 

 

Tim and Josh break down Aftermath by Chuck Wendig while Jen inserts her choice comments and thinks about how glad she is that she didn't read the book. Aftermath was the first book in the Journey to the Force Awakens publishing strategy and tells the tale of the state of the galaxy directly after the Battle of Endor. Key players in this book are Rae Sloane, Temmin Wexley, Norra Wexley, Mister Bones, Wedge Antilles, Jas Emari, and Sinjir Rath Velus. The story is has a complicated narrative with short interludes showing peeks at the state of the galaxy following the destruction of the second Death Star.

107 | Deadpool: The Movie

We were so excited about the Deadpool movie we just had to talk about it!  We dig deep, so if you haven't seen it yet, rush to your theater and watch it!  We'll wait!  ...ready? 

Okay, great. 

How great was Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano, T.J. Miller, and Ed Skrein in this movie? The writers nailed all the fourth wall breaking, quick wit of Deadpool for sure too. R-rated superhero movies are a rare thing and we were not left wanting. 

We also talk about Tim's trepidation with his house selling, Detective Comics by Brian Buccellato and Francis Manapul, Werewolf by Night #27 by Doug Moench and Don Perlin, Conan #56 by Roy Thomas and John Buscema, a Weird Jack Kirby fact, and letters!
