62 | Spider-Man: Blue

As the emotional spectrum of color overcomes us, Marc and Tim are joined by Kent Wagenschutz to discuss Spider-Man: Blue by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale. Kent's origin is discussed as well as Schlotzky's Deli and paint cans.

We also chatted about some more comic books that made us feel emotions.

Furniture really should match the trim you have in your room. Most houses now all have white trim so us folks with REAL 100+ year old beautiful wood trim are left in the cold. It's real, people. It's real.

We read:

Spider-Verse:  Amazing Spider-Man #9 & 10, by Dan Slott & Olivier Coipel
Spider-Verse #1, by Dan Slott, Skottie Young, Katie Cook, and others
Detective Comics #19- By John Layman, Jason Fabok, and others
The Ticking by Renee French
Rasputin

I Kill Giants is an amazing comic book that rips at the heart strings and made us all have the feels. Jeremiah, Drew, Marc, and Tim talk about the Joe Kelly and J.M. Well, then you'll love our long chat about IDW's Transformers vs. G.I. Joe by John Barber and Tom Scioli. Marc pulls out another of his old underground comix, Skull #4 from 1972 to round out the comic nerd uniting for the week.

Nightwing Loves Power Girl Comic Book Podcast

So, what have I been up to lately?

Marc Bolton and I started Nightwing Loves Power Girl which is a comic book review podcast. It's one of the most rewarding things that I've done in my life. I've gotten to meet great people, read some great comics, and gotten the opportunity to try something new and continue learning.

We started the podcast talking mostly about mainstream books. We started to have more success and, quite frankly, more fun when the podcast was focused more on independent books. comiXology Submit was a really good thing for the industry and for creative types in general.

We've reviewed quite a few things on the podcast. Here's a few of our favorites so far.

The Goof #1 by Guy Hasson and Guillermo Ramirez : A fun book with lots of adult humor and a goofy hero.

Apama: the Undiscovered Animal by Milo Miller, Ted Sikora, and Benito Gallego : This book was a surprise and a front runner for the NWLPG Comic Book of the Year. Kirby-esque art with a fun but serious story.

Zombie Outlaw by Brian Apodaco and Benny Jordan : Great college era, zombie, cowboy, carnage with a good bit of humor

Gargoyle By Moonlight #1 by Timothy Bach, Brian Atkins, Jeremiah Lambert : A classic comic with great lettering and inking.

There are many other great books that we've experienced so far. I look forward to doing this podcast for years and years to come.
